Strategic Commitment: Innovate in Sustainability
Inditex has a global environmental management system which is sound, efficient, and able to adapt to the needs of the corporation's pace of growth and to new requirements and advances in the field of environmental protection. The policies the Group has implemented guarantee that the importance of environmental protection is fully integrated into all of our business activities.
The management system is the result of the environmental initiatives we have implemented in recent years. Similarly, we have a range of complementary management tools which ensure that we can monitor the environmental impact of our business operations.
As a result, all of our retailers have brought their headquarters, distribution hubs and factories into line with the ISO 14001 standard for environmental management. These tools have likewise allowed the Group to enforce, update and monitor the company’s environmental policy worldwide, the sustainable management system at our stores, emergency protocols, waste management policies, our suppliers’ environmental commitments, the Environmental Training Plan, environmental efficiency standards at new industrial facilities (distribution hubs, headquarters, etc.), merchandise health safety monitoring (Oeko-Tex), the Packaging Reduction Plan and the Environmental Indicator System.
The lessons and results of previous years established the foundation for defining the main goal of the Strategic Environmental Plan 2011-2015:
- To develop innovative projects to instil the concept of sustainability across all of the company’s business lines and activities.
